A transcript of second air:

What better day than national housing day to get SMART Real Estate Solutions from realtor Sharon Parenteau. Good morning, Sharon. What do you have for us today?

Good morning, Marilyn. I have to say that I love the many valuable ideas you shared about our current housing shortage. I have a few of my own. You know, back in 2017, the Toronto Star reported that there are 2.2 million empty bedrooms in the GTA. So there's no question that the majority of Canadian seniors are over housed. So I have a question for you. Marilyn, why do you think seniors are staying in homes bigger than they need?

Well, I guess there's a lot of reasons. Top of Mind, maybe they're comfortable, and they don't know what alternatives would be better for them. Or they can't bear to fight think about getting rid of the stuff they have and move to somewhere smaller, so they get stuck.

Exactly. Marilyn, I think you hit the nail on the head. I have spoken with so many seniors who wanted to smart size, but end up deferring the decision, because they have too much stuff to deal with. Sure, I'd love to move they say, but have you seen my basement? And you know, it's really a shame, actually. Because clutter has become the enemy that holds them in a house that has actually become a 2500 square foot storage unit for things they don't want or don't use.

So I guess the logical question is, you see these things, you build relationships with people, what do you think that they can do share and if they want to declutter, and they don't know how to start?

This is such a common issue, Marilyn, that I actually wrote a booklet called the decluttering battle plan to help my clients conquer clutter, so they can have the freedom to downsize if and when they decide. The big cluttering battle plan highlights not only the high cost of clutter, physically, emotionally, and financially, but more importantly, it outlines our straightforward five step strategy for conquering clutter once and for all. It's going to give you a place to start, a plan to follow and tactics to overcome the overwhelm of dealing with the surplus belongings that we all seem to accumulate over time. It's effective, easy to understand, and best of all, completely free for the asking.

Well, you call yourself a Realtor with SMART Realty solutions. And you definitely get started with the nitty gritty because I guess if someone's going to move that decluttering aspect can be overwhelming. So the decluttering battle plan? Can my listeners get their own copy?

Absolutely. All they need to do is reach out to me at 416-460-5636 or visit my website at SMART Realty solution.com and request their copy.

So with regard to anything to do with real estate SMART Realty solutions, Sharon Parenteau 416-460-5636. Or you can visit the website smart Realty solution.com and request your copy of decluttering battle plan. Are there any other resources that you have up your sleeve? Sharon?

Actually, I'm so glad you asked Marilyn Yes, we have a follow up program called the "30-Day Decluttering Challenge" that will get you started in small incremental steps that anyone can do in under half an hour. This is strictly an email offering. There's no hard copy, but it's absolutely free. We've had hundreds of our senior clients go through the challenge and we know it makes a big difference. And again, anyone interested in decluttering as a first step to downsizing really should get in touch with me and we'll get them started.

So the book decluttering battle plan is yours free. One call gets you SMART Realty solutions with Sharon Parenteau and her team, the phone number again 416-460-5636 Sharon, thanks for sharing that information. And I look forward to speaking to you again next week.
