Get Ready to Downsize
Good morning, Marilyn. You might not know this, but SMART Realty Solutions has helped dozens of empty nesters to ditch the work, worry and financial stress of owning an oversized home. Each has unique circumstances that we create custom solutions for, but there are also some common challenges among my downsizing clients.
To address these questions and concerns, we created our workshop, “Get Ready to Downsize.” It takes a practical approach to helping seniors achieve the peace of mind needed to move forward.
We begin by identifying the motivation to downsize. “What do I want to achieve by moving?” and “What’s really important for me in this next phase of my life?” are key questions that will inform further self-exploration. Do I want to stay in my current neighbourhood, or move closer to my kids? Am I ready for less work and responsibility? Do I want to own or rent going forward? We’ll guide you through this process to highlight the options you want to keep and those you want to eliminate.
Next, we address the commonly-stated obstacles to downsizing. Sometimes the obstacles are because of a knowledge gap: you don’t know where to go, or how to get there. Maybe you’re worried about what to do with all your stuff. Or perhaps the thought of the physical work involved with moving has caused you to push it off into the future.
Every obstacle you can throw at us, we have heard before and created a solution for. We have the experience and resources to bring into your situation to overcome these obstacles.
To help you feel inspired and encouraged to make the positive changes that downsizing can bring, we’ll help you catch a vision of your new brighter, lighter future. It’s important to see this as an opportunity to optimize your future, rather than leave your past behind.
